5 steps for converting YouTube video into a blog like a pro

Ok now! I’m going to discuss those steps that I use every time to convert the YouTube video into a blog post.

This helped me a lot, so I’m sharing my experience with you, which I thought may be more useful for you.

1. Selecting the video content

First of all, I have to decide the topic for my blog post. In my mind, I wanted to create a post on an SEO-related topic.

So, I searched on YouTube for “Ways for SEO Optimization.”

It was just my thoughts, and instantly YouTube showed me various videos. It was very helpful for me, as I got more ideas.

And then, I found a video with the title “How to Write SEO Content for Websites | Ranks #1 🏆 on Google.”

It has pretty views, and the topic also made me interested.

In this step, you can get hundreds of ideas for your blog post. But you have to just think about the niche in which you want to create the blog. I decided to write about an SEO-related topic.

2. Transcribing the video

Now, I have a video from which I’m going to create a blog post. So, I opened the video and watched it once to take notes on what the key points of the video were.

Then I clicked on the share button of the video and copied the link.

After copying the link, I searched for “subtitle downloader” in the Google search bar.

There were lots of downloaders, but I opted for Downsub.com. I opened this website, pasted my copied link in the empty box, and clicked on Download.

Then this tool showed me three options: download SRT, download TXT, or download the full video.

I wanted to transcribe the video, so I downloaded the text file.

As you can see in this screenshot, the subtitles of the video were downloaded with great ease.

You can choose any video and paste its link on this website to easily download its subtitles.

Now let’s check out how to convert these subtitles into a complete blog!

3. Editing the transcription

I have downloaded the subtitles of the video, but now you may have a question about how it can be used as a blog post.

As it is?

No! I always made various changes and edits to the transcript to make it a complete, informative blog post.

Now, I’ll let you know what editing I do in my transcript.

  1. Removing lines and paragraph breaks

The first step of my editing was removing line and paragraph breaks. As you can see in the picture below, there are a lot of breaks.

So, I pasted this transcript in the docs file for further editing.

I removed all of these spaces by just using the backspace button on my keyboard. Then I added the punctuation to the whole text.

  1. Adding headings and subheadings

After that, I read the whole text. Then, I made an outline, in which I wrote the main heading along with subheadings. The main headings must be according to the topic, or you may use the same heading for the video.

For the next part, I picked the key points from the transcription and made interesting subheadings that I further used in the blog.

  1. Expanding the text

Now is the time to make a proper blog from the downloaded subtitles. In each subheading, I expanded the text so that the meaning of the text could be conveyed in an informative way.

I used the paragraph expander for this purpose. I just pasted the text in the box and clicked on expand. It lengthens the content in a couple of seconds.

As you can see in the above picture, it expanded the text from 100 words to 251 words. Further, I used this text in my blog.

  1. Summarizing the text

In the transcript, some points were too long, which looked like it was just to fluff the content. So, I summarized the text to improve the content quality.

For summarizing, I always use an AI text summarizer to shorten the length of the text. This tool compresses the text without ruining the quality of the content.

I simply pasted the text in the box and clicked on summarize. This AI tool shortens the text in a nice way.

  1. Using bullets

After completing the writing, now is the time to add minor details. I added bullets and number lists to the text.

In some headings, I used to explain steps, so I added number lists. However, in some points, I wanted to highlight some key points, so I added bullets.

After this minor editing, my blog appears appealing and captivating.

  1. Checking for grammar and spelling mistakes

Now, the blog post is almost complete. But there are some major points that must be edited. Grammar and spelling check!

For this, I found an online grammar checker. It helped me to detect all the grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes in the text.

I simply pasted my blog content in the box and clicked check. This AI tool detected all the errors in my text.

Afterwards, I edited those mistakes to make my blog easy to read and understand.

4. Adding infographics

We all know that many people mostly like to read instead of watching videos. But a blog post is incomplete without any visuals or infographics

According to DemandSage, infographics are 30 times more likely to be read, and they can increase website traffic by up to 12%.

However, I took visuals from Google or various free HD photo tools. Whereas, sometimes I create my own infographics.

However, I created them using the key points from the content. These infographics better explain my content’s main intent.

It added more value to my blog and also made it more attractive. This approach helped me better engage my readers.

5. Optimizing for SEO

At this time, my blog post is ready. But, let me tell you, this last step is the most important one.

After I have completed my blog post, I have to make it rank higher in the search engine. So, I do keyword research for my topic. After choosing the high-volume or most-searched keywords, I added them strategically in the heading, introduction, and body of my content.

A report from Hubspot shows, 39% of people list optimizing on-page content based on keywords as their top SEO strategy.

In the last, I wrote an attractive meta description. In addition to this, I also did internal and external linking to make my blog post more visible in the search engine results.

Over to you

Now, you are well known for the process that I used to convert YouTube videos into blog posts. Many people enjoy reading written content. They prefer reading over watching videos.

For those people, you may turn any YouTube video into a blog. But don’t forget to use visuals and infographics, as they make your blog more attractive. Also, doing good SEO is the key. And this practice can help you rank higher on Google.
