Wessel Hebing started making videos at the age of 15 before being a ‘Youtuber’ was a job description and in pursuit of making better videos & measure results, he co-founded Video Spicer.

In this article, he shares his learning and knowledge about video marketing.


1. Tell us about your life journey?

I have been making videos and have been editing since I was eleven. In the beginning that meant: downloading a song while waiting for 20 minutes, and then edit with images on the beat of the music. Videos were too much for my dad’s computer in the beginning haha.

When I was 15 I made a lot of videos, before being a ‘Youtuber’ was a job description. We made review videos about swimming pools with an underwater camera, short movies with friends, of which some are forever visible on Youtube. 🙂

That is how I started loving the world of video. Later on, I studied Media & Entertainment Management in Rotterdam, where I got to work with professional directors and actors like Rutger Hauer.

2. What prompted you to found Video Spicer?

I had already worked in marketing for 4 years and we often had the discussion to use video in our communication. We knew it was professional and had great potential, but I was often frustrated after a discussion with a video maker. How can we all say that video works, if nobody knows how to measure video results? We look at views, but there is so much more. that’s how the idea of videospicer came.

Then we started looking for a way be able to measure the results better, and therefore, make better video: With that in mind we started VideoSpicer.

3. How a Marketer can build a interactive Video content strategy with the help of clickable videos?

We made it very easy for anyone to make an interactive video for your website. You;

– Import a video from Youtube, Vimeo, JWPlayer, etc

– Add clickable elements on top of the video

– You embed it on your website, in your app or anywhere else.

In our reposts you see exactly how often buttons were clicked, to analyse your video results.

As always, it’s easier to show with a video.

4. What are some Video Marketing tactics that Marketers should adopt?

1. Video is a tool to achieve a goal. So there should be a Call to Action in every video that you make! Every video maker and marketer can then show the direct results of their video.

2. Ask questions and add A/B choices in your videos. 

Viewers engage more with interactions in videos and it feels less like filling in a survey. 

You respond with relevant content to your viewers=more engaged viewers. 

You collect viewer information inside your video=more date to learn from.

Our tool can also be linked to Google Analytics, allowing you to remarket your audience based on in-video results.


5. What advice you would like to give to marketers who want to start with Video Content?

Trust videomakers to tell your story, but make sure that you know when the video will be a success. Actively link videos to your sales or contact funnel.
